Key West Art and Historical Society is offering an adult class in basic printmaking beginning Saturday, February 17th 2007. Instructor Giovanni Novara, a local artist and printmaker and member of the Venetian engraving school “ Bottega del Tintoretto” will instruct adults in the art of relief printmaking. Students will learn techniques in engraving and relief printing in black and white and color. Student will generate prints by hand and on the printing press. On site sketching with a view to the developing a final print is part of course. The site will be announced by the instructor. The goal of the class is to enable students to continue printmaking on their own with minimal tools and materials. In an effort to accommodate those who work a full time job all classes will take place on the weekend. Students will meet for four subsequent weekends beginning Saturday, February 17th thru Sunday, March 11th 2007 at Fort East Martello Museum, 3501 South Roosevelt Boulevard, from 10:30 to 1 pm. Detailed information is available upon registration. The course includes 8 sessions for a total cost of $120 not including supplies. There is a 10% discount for KWAHS members. Class size is limited to twelve students, please register early.
