The Key West Art and Historical Society is putting the finishing touches on its expanded retail store at the Custom House, so it can participate with the Key West Chamber of Commerce’s planned ‘shop early, shop local’ holiday campaign. The society’s new retail manager, Tom Greenwood, spent 13 years as the Audubon House as its museum curator and store manager. “We are doubling the society’s retail space,” Greenwood said. “We will have good clearance prices on some items and bring in a variety of gifts we call the Custom House collection, including tumbled Italian tile with images of the exterior of the historic building.” Also on sale will be Mario Sanchez lithographs, including signed limited editions, as well as a good selection of books on Key West author Ernest Hemingway and books on Key West. “We have some unique jewelry and ceramic and porcelain reproductions from the 19th Century.” Greenwood said. “The Custom House shop is where you can buy something distinctive for that person usually hard to buy for. We’ll also feature gifts that are related to the shows in our gallery, beginning with Bill Welch’s show opening on Nov. 16.” The Custom House Gallery Retail Shop is open daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
