Presented by Sara Ayers-Rigsby.

Join Sara Ayers-Rigsby, Director of the Florida Public Archaeology Network at Florida Atlantic University, for a presentation on precontact archeology in Florida. Though many people think that Florida was uninhabitable before the railroad or A/C, Florida has been occupied for over 12,000 years. Take a whirlwind tour through Florida’s archaeological record with the Florida Public Archaeology Network—from the arrival of the first people in the area through more recent history.  What are we learning from recent excavations in the state, from Key West through Lake Okeechobee?  How are these sites being impacted by factors like development and sea level rise?
