KWAHS Wins Four Awards In Florida Monthly Magazine
Florida Monthly Magazine 2010 Best of Florida Winners.
It’s the article everyone’s been anticipating—the results for the 15th annual Best of Florida Awards have been tallied and the wait is over!
KWAHS says, Thank you Florida Monthly readers! for voting . . .
Best Museum: Museum of Art & History at the Custom House. This is the third year the Custom House has won this award. Honorable mentions: Salvador Dali Museum (St. Petersbury) and John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art (Sarasota).
Best Historic Landmark: Museum of Art & History at the Custom House. This is the fourth year the Custom House Museum has won this award. Honorable mentions: St. George Island Lighthouse, and Castillo De San Marcos (St. Augustine).
Best Renovated Building: Museum of Art & History at the Custom House. Honorable mention: Gato Building, Key West.
Best-Looking Lighthouse: Key West Lighthouse & Keeper's Quarters Museum. The magazine noted that the Lighthouse, "is considered a beacon at the corner of America. Built in 1847 to assist ships navigating the reefs, this Monroe County landmark stands 86 feet tall as a symbol of a bygone era." Honorable mentions: St. George Island Lighthouse, and St. Augustine Lighthouse.
