The Budding Artist Scholarship Fund
Jean Azard is a 15 year old Haitian who attended ArtCamp this summer. His family recently relocated to Key West. Jean’s technique is fully mature, his strokes bold and confident, his use of color impressive.
Suzanne Pereira, curator of education said, “Jean has demonstrated a maturity, commitment and self direction which is unusual in a youth his age and I believe these qualities should be fostered and nurtured.”
A donation of $300 would enable the museum to buy enough art materials to get Jean started on his painting vocation. After hearing about Jean Azard's situation, board member George Fontana suggested the Key West Art and Historical Society establish The Budding Artist Scholarship Fund to help Jean and other future promising emerging artists with material and lessons. The Key West Art and Historical Society recognizes that these are difficult financial times. Any donation from as little as $10 or more will help fund this young gifted artist and will be most appreciated.

Steven M. Pratt Memorial Fund
Steven Morris Pratt was born in 1944 in Fort Wayne, IN. He worked as a writer/editor for the Chicago Tribune from 1967 to 1997. Upon his retirement he moved to Key West and began working with the Society. Steve volunteered for numerous charitable organizations in Key West and wrote feature articles for many local publications. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The Society was extremely lucky to have had a Director of Press Relations as talented and hard-working as Steve Pratt. Steve joined the staff of the Society in 1998 and worked tirelessly to promote the Society and its three museums, exhibitions, programs and events. Steve enjoyed working with the Society's interns and encouraged them in their pursuit of a career in museum administration. Therefore, it is befitting that the Society has created this fund in his honor.
