Seawater Conversion Plant in Stock Island
On July 20, 1967 Vice President Hubert Humphrey dedicated the world’s largest seawater conversion plant on
Stock Island before a crowd of 500. The plant designed by Westinghouse produced 2.62 million gallons of fresh
water per day from sea water.
